When the Matrix & Dynamite Baits backed angler Aidan Mansfield and myself sat down and talked about adding a cane slim to the range. The one thing we both wanted was the same reliable product that ALL our floats offer! Now this was easy for the vast majority of the areas involved, there was however one clear sticking point….. THE eye !! We did not want to offer just another cane tipped slim with a traditional twisted eye, they look pretty but WILL let you down at some point that is for sure. We both wanted to stick with the tried & tested and in our minds the VERY best eye system available the “Hybrid Power Eyes”
The issue with this is cane is a solid and hard product, to fit a hybrid style eye you need one key factor the tip needs to be hollow or has we have done a hollow section! This has not only been costly and time consuming but has put a number of issues in place over the last 18 months. From centralising issues when drilling to burning the material and many other issues. What ever we do we need to look at how we can scale the float to offer enough but don’t slip on finish! This has proven extremely difficult with this float, the time taken to produce a working tip is nearly has much has building the whole float again! But we have done and are extremely happy with the end result and MORE importantly proud to put our name to it!
The XL Cane Carbons
The Xl Cane Carbons is very versatile float for open water and canal style commercials and natural venues. Perfect for venues like tunnel barn Lindholme partdrige Westwood and many more. Because of the materials the float is made from, the super strong IGF110 foam the eye hold is extremely strong. Even for the smallest float in the range the 0.1g, in testing this eye & foam combination has lifted 5kg groundbait direct from the eye with zero damage. This makes the “hybrid power eyes” the strongest eye on the market that is a FACT.
And the float its self is balanced to pick up shy F1 bites, but because of the materials used will take the pressure of big angry carp with no stress at all on the float. The 1.6mm ultra bright cane tips allows you to shot it to a pimple. The 0.7mm high grade carbon is perfect size for Stability, and gives you a natural fall through the water. Because of the balance this gives you a true all year round pattern. It has fast set tips which allows the float to start fishing Instantly. This float is one that all anglers should have set up it will give you that extra Percentage over your competitors. Due to the time taken producing the cane tip section ( nearly has long has building the entire float itself) the price on this float is considerably more by 35% due to the time involved.
Tip process only:
- Select cane
- Cut to length
- Sand each end
- Manual insert each tip for drilling
- Drill each tip
- Put each tip on dipping stems
- Load tips onto dipping trays
- Put the tips through the inking process
- Put the tips into the dryer
- Repeat set 8 & 9 five times to achieve a solid ViZi finish and UV stable tip
- Remove tips from dipping trays
- Remove tips carefully from dipping stems
- A light sand / clean at the bottom of the tip
- Fix tips onto there body
- They are now ready to be used
